THF was used for gel permeation chromatography (GPC), a technique used to analyze the molar masses of polymers (mainly rubbers, polystyrenes).
Polymer contamination within the range of 2.4 mg in 2.5L THF (~1mg polymer/1L).
Destiny:
Washing equipment, e.g. reactors made of various types of polymers.
THF is a very good solvent for plastics, e.g. rubbers, polystyrenes, adhesives, latexes.
