Biesterfeld and Celanese: Expansion of the joint portfolio in 2025

Biesterfeld and Celanese:…

Among others, the two LCP product families Vectra and Zenite have been added to the distributor's portfolio. These polymers are highly crystalline, inherently flame-retardant, thermotropic thermoplastics. Due to their outstanding dimensional stability and excellent temperature resistance, the materials are particularly suitable for thin-walled components.

Biesterfeld has also been granted distribution rights for the TPS plastics Sofprene and Laprene. The polymers combine the rubber-like properties of an elastomer with the outstanding processing properties of thermoplastics. The distributor already holds distribution rights for Celanese's Santoprene TPV and Hytrel TPC product families and will therefore be able to offer its customers an even broader range of thermoplastic elastomers in future. Furthermore, the PET portfolio will be expanded. In addition to the Rynite product family, Biesterfeld will receive the distribution rights for the materials under the trade name Impet.

Another addition to the joint portfolio is the GUR product family. The product family consists of polyethylenes with ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW-PE). The polymers offer excellent abrasion resistance, outstanding impact strength, self-lubricating properties and outstanding mechanical properties, even under cryogenic conditions.

The expanded portfolio is completed by the two LFT product families Celstran and Compel. The long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastics impress with their outstanding rigidity and strength and are used, among other things, to replace metal in demanding applications.

All new mandates, as well as the distributor's existing mandates for the Celanex PBT, Celanyl PA, Crastin PBT, Ecomid Recycled PA, Frianyl PA, Frianyl PPA, Hytrel TPC, Rynite PET, Santoprene TPV, Selar PA, Zytel PA and Zytel HTN, will apply to the entire EMEA region, including the British Isles and the Nordics.

“With this extensive expansion of our portfolio, we are strengthening our long-term and strategic partnership with Celanese,” explains Martin Rathke, Global Business Director Engineered Polymers at Biesterfeld. “The new product families enable us to meet the increasing demands of our customers even better and provide innovative solutions for demanding applications. We look forward to marketing the materials in the EMEA region.”
