Braskem presents adhesive and sealant solutions at FEICA 2017

Braskem presents adhesive… The biggest thermoplastic resins producer in the Americas, Braskem offers exclusive products for the adhesive and sealant markets at FEICA, European Adhesive and Sealant Conference & Expo, in Forte Village, Santa Margherita di Pula, Sardinia, Italy, from 13-15 September 2017. The company has broadened the uses for its Unilene hydrocarbonic resin and has new developments in its PIB portfolio of products.

Intensively marketed in EMEA and North America, Unilene is the ideal material for high-performance adhesives. Compatible with EVA and a wide range of polymers, Unilene is soluble in most solvents, is water repellent and improves control of open time. It confers permanent tack and instant adhesion, and its performance properties support its application in a wide variety of substrates.

Producing PIB for over 40 years, Braskem is constantly enhancing its portfolio and currently offers various grade options. These include the medium-molecular weight grade, which is an excellent choice for adhesive and sealant applications. Braskem’s PIB has inherent tack and adhesive properties, does not dry even with the action of drying catalysts. It does not lose volatile material and is weather-resistant.

The company has now started marketing PIB for use in stretch film. Colourless and odourless, the product has been approved for use in contact with foodstuffs, fulfilling requirements of the USA’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It provides an excellent barrier against humidity and gases.

“Braskem is recognized as a strong and reliable company. It has products that are well known in the market for their quality and competitive prices”, says Rutger de Mos, Sales Manager Specialties at Braskem Netherlands BV. “Our adhesives and sealants solutions are increasing their market share in EMEA and at FEICA we are looking for reliable partners and customers.”

At FEICA the company will also present solvents for adhesives and sealants. Its portfolio includes aromatic solvents for adhesive applications in the furniture, construction and automotive industries; aliphatic solvents that are essential for the footwear industry; and colourless and odourless hydrogenated solvents for silicon sealant applications.

In addition, Braskem will offer hot melt solutions composed of semi-amorphous resins with vinyl acetate, which have good compatibility with other resins and combine well with thermoplastics.
