As intelligent industrial manufacturing gains a stronger foothold in production alongside the more established customization/prototyping arenas, Clariant returns to this year’s formnext with new solutions to support the growth. A new halogen-free flame retardant 3D printing material takes center stage alongside eye-catching and unique printed end use parts from a range of applications.
Customers are increasingly producing end use functional parts with 3D printing. For their end use applications, they desire solutions and expert partners. Clariant has prioritized and been proactive in offering a full suite of 3D printing solutions including print and design for additive manufacturing support.
David McCann, Senior Business Architect at Clariant’s 3D printing business, comments: “Clariant works closely with customers in a collaborative manner to ensure solutions for 3D printing. Our materials are known to have the capabilities customers require for functional parts and Clariant provides the support and expertise needed to ensure the production of these parts. Customers desire certified materials like our newly-developed fire, smoke and toxicity compliant material and we will continue to provide unique solutions like this to customers.”
Visitors to Booth B111 in Hall 12.1 can explore a wide variety of Clariant’s materials and solutions, including:
A showcase of Clariant’s 3D printing development support and materials solutions to allow production of demanding end use parts. Clariant’s expert guidance in design for additive manufacturing, printing, aesthetics, material certifications and material development are highlighted with an EV charger case study. The case study highlights Clariant’s unique flame retardant 20% glass fiber reinforced polyamide 6 using Exolit material. This 3D printing material uses halogen free Exolit flame retardant to achieve UL 94 V-0 levels down to 0.4 mm and a glow wire ignition temperature of 750 °C at 3.0 mm thickness.
Introduction of a newly-developed fire, smoke and toxicity compliant 3D printing material. PA6/66-GF20 FR LS using Exolit flame retardant material is compliant with EN 455452, NFPA 130 (ASTM E162, ASTM E662) and SMP 800-C. This material was designed specifically for 3D printing to achieve ideal mechanical properties with excellent flame retardancy, low smoke and low toxicity. Unique rail application parts will be on display.
End use application automotive parts produced via 3D printing. Examples of interior and exterior automotive parts will be displayed to inspire customers and demonstrate the aesthetics that can be achieved. Parts on display will include those produced with Clariant’s 20% carbon fiber reinforced polyamide 6, 15% glass fiber reinforced PC+ABS and temperature stabilized 20% glass fiber reinforced 25% mineral filled polyamide 6.
