Industrial plastic parts moulder Coco-Werk is investing €8.4m to construct a new white goods components plant in Lodz, Poland.
This is the German company’s third Polish production unit. Its local offshoot, Coco-Werk Polska employs 200 at the two existing plants close to Lodz, which supply plastics parts for domestic appliances made by Bosch/Siemens Hausgërate.
At the new facility, located on a 0.5 hectare plot in Nowy Józefów in the Lodz Special Economic Zone, Coco-Werk is creating 30 jobs. The unit will provide parts for washing machines, driers and dishwashers built at the nearby Lodz factory of the German OEM.
Based in Bad Salzuflen, Germany, Coco-Werk operates more than 80 injection presses ranging up to 2,400 tonnes clamping force. Coko-Werk also produces its own moulds up to 20 tonnes in weight. It is understood that around half the moulding machines have been supplied by Austrian manufacturer Wittmann Battenfeld.
Coco-Werk recently placed a new order with Wittmann Battenfeld for eight new injection moulding machines, six of them for installation in Poland and the remaining two destined for the firm’s base plant in Bad Salzuflen. The Polish presses include one EcoPower 110 machine and five hydraulic HM series units.
Apart from plants in Germany and Poland, the firm aims to start up independent production this year in Turkey, producing components for the local market. The firm is launching a full sized 5,000m2 production plant, which follows the firm’s launch in 2006 of a small 1,000m2 ‘shop-in-shop’ unit with a 15-strong workforce in the Cerkezköy industrial zone outside the Turkish capital Istanbul.
In Salzuflen, Coco-Werk employs mainly larger injection machines and a wide range of injection moulding processes such as single, two and multi-component production, internal gas pressure and foaming processes are used by the moulder. It also has blow moulding machines to form hollow parts.
Apart from domestic appliance parts, the German firm also moulds components for other sectors including automotive, heating and sanitary installations, recreation and garden products, medical and consumer goods.
