Emirates Biotech is pleased to announce that following the appointment of Marc Verbruggen as CEO last month, François de Bie has been appointed as Chief Commercial Officer, Aman Kulshrestha as Chief Technology Officer and Margrete L. Wie as Head of Finance. This new leadership team, which will be based in Dubai, brings unparalleled expertise and vision to Emirates Biotech as the company aims to become a leading player in the PLA (Polylactic Acid) biopolymer industry.
Marc Verbruggen is a distinguished leader in the bioplastics sector, having previously served as CEO of NatureWorks. Under his leadership, NatureWorks became a global provider of bio-based polymer solutions, doubling its manufacturing capacity and establishing a robust global customer base. Marc’s strategic direction will be pivotal in navigating Emirates Biotech through the dynamic landscape of the biopolymers market.
François de Bie brings extensive experience in business development and marketing within the plastics industry. As a former Senior Marketing Director at TotalEnergies Corbion and former president of European Bioplastics, he has played an important role in advancing the acceptance of biopolymers globally. His commercial expertise will be instrumental in driving Emirates Biotech’s regional sales and marketing strategy.
With over 12 years of experience in biopolymers, Aman Kulshrestha is a renowned expert in production, applications of biopolymers and recycling technologies. Her tenure at NatureWorks and Sulzer has equipped her with the skills to oversee Emirates Biotech’s technological advancements, ensuring the production of high-quality PLA biopolymers that meet the demands of various industries.
Margrete L. Wie has been appointed Head of Finance to oversee Emirates Biotech financial operations. She has a proven track record in financial and strategic management of complex technology industries in both start-up and mature business environments.
Emirates Biotech recently launched operations and will spearhead the production and marketing of PLA biopolymers across the Middle East, Africa, and India, offering a sustainable solution to replace traditional fossil fuel-based plastics. PLA biopolymers are renewable, recyclable, biodegradable and directly relevant to the goals of a circular economy.
