With a focus on sustainability: at Fakuma 2024, technotrans showcases energy-efficient thermal management solutions for the plastics processing industry. A highlight of the trade fair presentation is a live application of several technotrans systems on a fully electric injection moulding machine from KraussMaffei, including variothermal mould temperature control. In the field of cooling technology, visitors can expect an efficient water-cooled chiller from the kws w series. Moreover, technotrans presents a field-tested cold water temperature control unit from the teco cw series using natural refrigerant R290 (propane). Additionally, the company fills an important gap in its product portfolio with a new 18 kW temperature control unit.
"With our resource-saving cooling and temperature control technology, customers shape their production processes for the future, enhance their competitiveness, and reduce their CO2 footprint," says Nicolai Küls, Managing Director of technotrans solutions GmbH. "This year again, we are presenting advanced, practical solutions that meet the growing demands of the industry and can be precisely tailored to all applications."
One of the focal points of the trade fair presentation is a live application with a fully electric KraussMaffei injection moulding machine that manufactures display frames. An energy-efficient refrigeration machine using R290 (propane) is used for cooling the entire system. Variothermal tool temperature control (teco vario) with switching valves ensures the optimal surface structure of the plastic parts. Conventional temperature control is provided by two units from the teco ci series with the Pump Efficiency Module (PEM) and water distribution system itd evo with electronic circuit monitoring. All systems are optimally matched to the demonstrated application and deliver precisely the performance required in the process. A special feature of the live application: the display frames manufactured are used by technotrans in new temperature control units after the trade fair.
Temperature control: product portfolio significantly expanded
In the area of compact temperature control, technotrans expands its portfolio with a new device for the three series base.line, high.line, and eco.line. The new teco ci system features a power of 18 kW and a flow rate of 70 l/min. These and all other device variants are characterised by their small footprint and optimal maintenance accessibility. "Central elements of the new compact temperature control units are the Pump Efficiency Module (PEM) and the visualisation with the ecoAnalyzer. Integrated into the housing, the PEM is the most important component in terms of energy saving," says Küls. With the intelligent add-on for logotherm with PEM, users have a clear overview of the complete energy management. Thanks to its unique usability, all key efficiency data can be visualised and individually accessed with a single click. Optionally, the temperature control units are available with an OPC-UA communication interface, which ensures intelligent networking of all components involved in the production and processing process.
In the field of cooling technology, technotrans also showcases a particularly sustainable solution: the water-cooled refrigeration machine of the kws series stands out due to its robust construction and high energy efficiency, offering a reliable solution for various industrial cooling processes. Both the air-cooled and water-cooled versions of the kws are available as single or dual-circuit configurations and use the technotrans energy saving module with sliding condensation pressure regulation, which significantly reduces operating costs. The machines offer an energy efficiency rating (EER value) of up to 8 and are optionally equipped with environmentally friendly low-GWP refrigerant R513A or natural refrigerant R290 (propane). The machine presented at Fakuma can operate both as a refrigeration machine and as a heat pump. With the installed heating condenser including heating circuit pump, the use of heat recovery for various heating purposes is possible.
Further live applications of technotrans devices and machines are visible at numerous other stands.
