The stadium complex in Cairo (Egypt), built in 1991, is the largest indoor arena in Africa. The part of this complex known as the Main Hall meets Olympic standards and provides seating for 20,000 visitors, with an inner diameter of 120 metres and a height of 39.5 metres. The stadium hosted the African Handball Championship up to the end of January 2016, and in five years it will be a venue for the World Handball Championship.
Gabriel-Chemie has secured a major contract for producing masterbatch for the approximately 20,000 stadium seats in the Main Hall. The requirements specified for this masterbatch were precise colouring and excellent fire protection properties. Maxithen PP-SEAT is a single-component masterbatch, primarily used for producing plastic seating. Numerous stadium seat manufacturers have relied on the quality of Gabriel-Chemie Group products for decades. Plastic seats treated with Maxithen PP-SEAT are installed in more than 100 renowned, top-class sports stadiums, arenas and event venues throughout the world.
