Measuring up to the trend towards multi-functionality

The trend towards ever more complex plastic pipes with various functional layers has remained unbroken around the globe. Individual layers meet technical requirements for the functionality of a pipe. Thus, for instance, barrier layers reduce diffusion, fiber-reinforced pipes increase internal crush resistance and pipes filled with glass fiber reduce linear expansion. KraussMaffei Berstorff offers the appropriate extrusion system for every application area using specifically designed multilayer pipe heads. "With our range of pipe heads we satisfy all demands for the production of multilayer pipes," states Peter Roos. "In addition to that, the well-considered process technology concept of this kind of complex system also plays a critical role. It ensures, for instance, that the layer thicknesses of the barrier layers can be minimized and thus the pipe manufacturer saves on costs. In addition, the market demands for flexible solutions are also met," sums up Roos.

Complex system for first-class quality during production of single and multilayer PE-X pipes

When it comes to "Overall Equipment Efficiency", the quality of the end product plays a decisive role. Excellent product characteristics such as high temperature resistance or high abrasion resistance are extremely important for the production of cross-linked PE pipes. KraussMaffei Berstorff provides special customer-specific solutions. Single- or twin-screw extruders are used depending on the application. The processing unit is designed for the special specifications of the cross-linking process and thus guarantees a constantly high level of networking and a high-quality end product. With KraussMaffei Berstorff systems maximum production speeds can be achieved with minimal tolerances in thickness and diameter.
