There is still continuing demand for KraussMaffei Berstorff extruders and machines manufactured locally at the production plant in Haiyan.
The number of orders received has been rising continuously for years, and market leadership has been demonstrated by remarkable contracts.
"Our customers in China and Asia attach maximum priority to locally manufactured machines which also satisfy the highest technological demands", said Fan Kai Jun, General Sales Manager for Extrusion Technology at the Chinese subsidiary of the KraussMaffei Group. The machines and downstream units from the Performance Series produced here are designed according to strict quality guidelines and are equipped with components that are available on the Asian market. We are the market leader with our twin-screw series in the area of PVC, pipe and profile extrusion, and recorded a substantial rise in incoming orders for PO pipe extrusion last year", said Fan.
With its first-class advantages such as maximum output rates, energyefficient production or perfect product quality, 36D single-screw technology is impressing processors from China and Asia to an ever greater extent. For example, the Chinaust Group, one of the leading pipe manufacturers in China, ordered a complete pipe line to produce PE pipes up to a diameter of 400 mm at the start of 2012. "We are also seeing strong growth in the area of infrastructure for polybutene pipes; For example, we acquired Zibo Jielin Plastic Pipe Co. Ltd as a customer who only recently ordered a complete line", said a delighted Fan. The machine - produced entirely in China - guarantees safe processing of the locally offered material supplied by Lyondellbasell, a world leading material manufacturer. Various end products produced on this machine have been certified by a Peking-based national test center for polymers and chemical construction materials.
The company has also established itself as the market leader in the special material processing sector. Renowned processors rely on KraussMaffei Berstorff machines for C-PCV processing. "Youli Holding Group, one of the largest C-PVC producers in China, has placed several orders with us over the last ten years; the most recent order included a KMD 130-26 twin-screw extruder to produce pipes up to 800 mm and sheets, a new product line for Youli", said Fan. Since the process unit of the extruder has a very flexible design, it is very easy to switch at any time from the pipe downstream unit to the sheet downstream unit.
Only local raw material is used; the output rate is 700 kg/h for pipe production and 600 kg/h for sheet production. The KraussMaffei Berstorff twin-screw extruders are also used successfully for new C-PVC materials with improved chemical properties and new formulations. For example, several machines are already being used successfully by the renowned processing companies Shanghai Chemical and Hangzhou Chemical, which manufacture top quality end products.
The ZE Basic Series is also attracting a great deal of interest among customers. The machines are especially suitable for standard tasks involving cost-effective compounding. KraussMaffei Berstorff has significantly increased the number of orders received, primarily from the automotive industry.
For example, companies have started to use more than 100 machines from this Series in the last few years. Thanks to the KraussMaffei Berstorff machines, Chinese compounders increase their production efficiency, save investment costs and manufacture top quality end products.
KraussMaffei Berstorff also scores highly with Chinese customers through superb process engineering know-how which is demanded to an increasing extent by processing companies. A complete system for producing TPV profiles for the automobile industry will come on stream in the middle of 2012. The system - an example of in-depth process know-how - is being used in Shanghai by the customer Exxon Mobil in its development center for demonstration purposes.
