Total to launch a new range of high performance insulation products.
The Polymers Division of Total Refining & Chemicals will begin manufacturing a new generation of expandable polystyrene (EPS beads) products in 2013.
The formulation of the new polymer, Excell-R, was developed by teams at Total’s Research & Technology in Feluy, Belgium and offers a new solution in terms of energy efficiency.
Excell-R delivers thermal insulation characteristics significantly higher than
conventional white EPS thereby offering higher performance for foam insulation
applications.
“The development of our innovative insulation solution Excell-R demonstrates our
Group’s efforts and commitment to optimize the use of energy resources,” said Carl Van Camp, Senior Vice President Polymers.
Excell-R enables Total to consolidate its market position for styrenic polymers dedicated to insulation – polystyrene for extruded polystyrene (XPS) and Excell-R for expanded polystyrene (EPS-foam).
