AMI has announced the programme for its Profiles 2017 conference, which will take place on 19-20 September 2017 at the Maritim Hotel in Cologne, Germany.
The conference will focus on plastics profiles for construction applications, covering the latest market opportunities and applications. It will examine developments in materials technology, production techniques, design and decoration, plus testing and standards.
Profiles 2017 will open with a panel discussion on trends in construction profiles. The panellists will include Dr Stan Huck, head of R&D for materials at leading profile producer Profine, plus Gerald Feigenbutz, managing director of the European PVC Window Profiles and Related Building products Association (EPPA).
The busy programme on the first day of the conference will also feature a session focused on environmental and regulatory issues, including presentations on the controlled-loop recycling of PVC windows and recent legislative developments impacting on the industry.
Speakers in the next session will focus on new ways to modify the properties of profiles including a look at reinforcing profiles with glass fibres. This technology, which is designed to open up new markets for PVC, will be covered by Claudine Bloyaert who works in technical marketing and development with Inovyn, a leading PVC producer.
The afternoon of the first day of the conference will begin with three papers looking at how to add value and functionality to profiles using pigments and masterbatches, including a report on advances in heat-reflecting technologies for profiles and siding. The day will be completed with a session on the critically important topic of perfecting profile die designs.
Day two of the Profiles 2017 conference will start with a dedicated session focused on advances in additives for PVC, including papers on stabilizers, impact modifiers and processing aids. This will be followed by a session on optimising profile production featuring talks by three leading machinery and system suppliers – Milacron Extrusion, Coperion and Battenfeld-Cincinnati.
Concluding the conference will be three presentations focused on meeting customer requirements through improved quality control, advanced printing and labelling technologies, and accurate performance tests for cladding profiles.
In addition to the informative conference programme, Profiles 2017 will also feature a focused table-top exhibition and ample opportunities for networking during the coffee breaks, lunches and evening cocktail reception.
