Röhm Shanghai has achieved ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) Plus certification for its methyl methacrylate (MMA), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), and methacrylate resin products at its Shanghai (China) site. Additionally, Roehm Chemical (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. has been certified as an ISCC Plus trading and storage operator. This enables Röhm to offer a broad range of sustainable products under its established brands, including Meracryl, Plexiglas, Degalan and Degaroute, to local customers.
Röhm already offers an extensive range of products with a reduced carbon footprint, which are marketed under the proTerra brand. These are manufactured either by adding recycled PMMA, methyl methacrylate (MMA) or by using ISCC-Plus certified sustainable raw materials.
ISCC Plus is a certification for sustainable production and the use of renewable or recycled raw materials. The ISCC Plus certified products are manufactured according to established standard processes and the sustainable content is based on the principle of mass balancing. Sustainable raw materials are traced along the entire value chain and in the production process.
“ISCC Plus certification marks a milestone on our roadmap to sustainability in Asia,” said Benjamin Ling, President of Röhm Asia. “From now on, we can support customers in China and across Asia with products derived from sustainable resources, without compromising product quality or requiring changes to their processes.”
The Shanghai site is Röhm’s first facility outside Germany to achieve ISCC Plus certification, following certifications at its Worms and Wesseling production sites in Germany.
This certification complements our ongoing sustainability activities as part of the "Track 2030" sustainability program.
