Sibur has increased its share in the largest Russian producer of polypropylene film

Sibur has increased its share… Sibur has completed a deal to acquire 50% of the chartered capital of Biaxplen LLC, one of the largest Russian manufacturers of biaxially oriented polypropylene film (BOPP).

Sibur bought into Biaxplen's chartered capital in 2009, negotiating a deal to purchase 50% of the company, and is therefore now the single owner of the film manufacturer.

Biaxplen's production facilities consist of three plants located in the Nizhny Novgorod, Kursk and Moscow Regions. In addition to Biaxplen, Sibur owns the similar enterprise Biaxplen-NK (Novokuybyshevsk, Samara Region), which is managed by Biaxplen LLC. As a result, Biaxplen-NK will become part of the Biaxplen Group.

In 2011, the aggregate production volume of the Biaxplen Group and Biaxplen-NK exceeded 82 thousand tonnes of films. The Biaxplen Group companies acquired more than 65 thousand tonnes of polypropylene from Sibur.
