Freilassing, Siegsdorf, Rüti. WirtschaftsWoche, the renowned German business magazine, examined 4000 German medium-sized companies to determine the 50 most sustainable. The Brückner Group, with headquarters in Siegsdorf, is one of them – and one of only four qualifying mechanical engineering companies. This acknowledges the sustainable corporate governance and change sustainability management of all members of the Brückner Group: The management holding Brückner Group, as well as Kiefel, Brückner Maschinenbau, Brückner Servtec, and PackSys Global with all their subsidiaries and foreign locations were recognized: Sustainability is anchored in the core of the companies, ESG goals (ESG = Environmental, Social & Corporate Governance) are closely linked to the company's values and mission statement as well as its corporate objectives, and sustainability efforts are reported on in detail and transparently.
Kiefel’s commitment to sustainability
Kiefel set up a sustainability strategy several years ago and is undertaking various measures to drive improvements forward. The focus is on four key areas on the way to a better future: measures relating to the company and its internal processes, measures towards achieving more sustainable products, social responsibility and the environment. The strategy includes its own vision and mission, whilst a dedicated sustainability team is establishing actions which have already enabled the thermoforming manufacturer to succeed: The company has repeatedly been certified by EcoVadis, among others, and has also received ready sustainability awards for technologies such as the Natureformer KFT 90 Speed.
“With the aim of improving the company's energy efficiency, we are implementing a management system that allows us to reduce our energy consumption and helps us to gradually change to alternative energy sources. Kiefel wants to be a pioneer in decarbonization and achieve CO2 neutrality by 2040.” - emphasizes Susanne Hirschel, Head of Sustainability Management at Kiefel. In its daily activities and in the development and manufacture of its machines, the company relies on optimized resource-saving and durable technologies as well as future-oriented materials.
"The fact that we as a group of companies belong to Germany's 50 most sustainable medium-sized companies is of course a huge award. On the one hand, it is a recognition for our constant efforts towards a sustainable corporate culture. On the other hand, it is also an incentive to become even better when it comes to reconciling ecology and social issues with long-term economic success." – highlights Dr. Axel von Wiedersperg, CEO of the Brückner Group.
For the second time since 2022, the ranking examined which companies in the German SME sector are pioneers in the areas of ecology, social affairs and responsible corporate governance. For this purpose, the respective ESG initiatives were analysed in a multi-stage analysis process. A specially developed "Sustainability Score" evaluates the commitment based on three criteria: ESG perception, ESG documentation and ESG implementation.
