In 1997, when Kielce Trade Fairs organized the first exhibition related to the plastics processing industry, as little as 800 m2 of exhibition space was rented by 83 companies putting on display their products and services. Last year's edition attracted 772 exhibitors from 29 countries. Plastpol is among trade fairs recording the highest growth rate. Every year, new records are broken in terms of attendance and rented exhibition space. This fair attracts an ever increasing number of foreign exhibitors, thus being the most international fair event held in Kielce. In fact, half of its exhibitors represent foreign countries.
In a Polish Trade Fair Corporation ranking published in 2006, Plastpol came first as a trade fair attracting the largest number of foreign exhibitors. In 2007, the International Fair of Plastics Processing was honoured with a European Medal for Services, which is given by the Office of the Committee for European Integration and the Business Centre Club. This medal is given in recognition of products and services complying with European quality standards. Plastpol is also Poland's first trade fair which has lived up to see its foreign version. It is five years since Kielce Trade Fairs started organizing the International Fair of Plastics Processing PLASTUKRAINA in Kiev, which is an eastern equivalent of Plastpol.
What constitutes the distinguishing feature of Plastpol is the opportunity to observe production cycles implemented in the plastics processing sector, which is provided at exhibition stands. These four days in the pavilions of Kielce Trade Fairs also give an opportunity to show a wide range of plastic products and see technological processes such as plastics grinding, selecting colour concentrates; galvanizing, painting and metallizing; water jet cutting, precision die shearing, as well as injection machines and extruders delivering final products. For visitors and exhibitors, there is a large number of seminars, conferences and specialist meetings addressing the latest achievements and trends in the plastics processing industry. Last year's edition of Plastpol was accompanied by 15 meetings of this kind.
