Italy’s Amut acquires plastics and rubber recycling business.Amut, which manufacturers thermoforming machinery and extrusion lines, has acquired Comer Engineering, which develops, manufactures and markets lines for the sorting and treatment of solid, industrial and similar urban waste, of plastics and rubber (especially tires), and of other materials. Terms of the purchase were not released.
Comer is based in Treviso, Italy, while Amut is based about three hours west of it in Novara. Comer also makes sorting and treatment lines for the recycling electronics and electrical (E/E) waste, for composting, for the treatment of dry fraction and for the treatment and transport of inert materials.
For Amut, the purchase gives it entry into other industries, and for its plastics processing customers it can now offer it means it will be able lines for washing and recycling thermoplastics to be placed upstream of its extrusion and thermoforming machinery. Amut makes single- and twin-screw extruders and serves practically the entire extrudable plastic market, from profiles to tubes and hoses, to film and sheet.
Amut has renamed Comer as Amut Ecotech and says it already received orders for €10 million.
