Braskem launches new thermopolymers to replace imported resins

Braskem launches new thermopolymers… Braskem, the largest producer of thermoplastic resins in the Americas and the world’s leading biopolymer producer, has recently launched two new thermopolymers: Symbios 4102 and Symbios 3102, strengthening the portfolio in the bioriented polypropylene (BOPP) and PP film segments.

Thanks to this innovation, the Brazilian market now has a national option to replace the imported product. Resins will also be available to other clients throughout Latin America.

The properties of the Symbios resins are ideal for automatic packaging due to their superior performance. Symbios 4102 was developed for the sealing layer in the coextrusion of bioriented films, with an initial sealing temperature of less than 115oC on the untreated side. This additive is particularly appropriate for the metallization process. Symbios 3102, which has a higher melt flow rate, was designed to meet the needs of the PP film segment while maintaining the former’s characteristics.

The new Symbios products were specifically designed for use in external package layers. Combining differentiated functional properties, these products offer low sealing temperatures, excellent optical properties and processability, retention of surface treatment, excellent metallization performance and high compatibility with adjacent layers.
