At K 2010, Elmet will present itself as an internationally active system supplier for the entire field of liquid injection molding (LIM) of two-component liquid silicone rubber (LSR).
The company's range of products and services extends from fully automatic high-precision injection molds, its core business, through high-efficiency, cost saving multi-component metering systems and electronically adjustable valve gate cold decks to peripheral products such as check valves, diving nozzles, filter units, etc.
At the customer's request, Elmet combines these products with customer-owned injection molding machines to form turnkey, fully tested manufacturing cells incorporating perfectly matched components. Moreover, the company supplies pre-production (pilot) and low-volume production runs to customer specifications where specimen moldings must be made available at short notice.
As a current addition to its product range, Elmet will be showcasing the new TOP 1000 Metering Pump at K2010. This unit has been developed as an alternative to the existing, feature-loaded TOP 3000 Metering System. Both versions operate pneumatically and are suitable for both 20-liter and 200-liter drums.
Delivering a maximum output of 2.5 liter/minute at a 1:1 mixing ratio, they can admix up to 10% colorant. The TOP 3000 Metering System relies on patented closed-loop control technology capable of providing constant, documented metering precision while consistently emptying almost 100% of product from both LSR drums. In developing the new TOP1000 Metering Pump, the engineers aimed to combine proven reliability in rough day-to-day service with an attractive price. As a result, the unit is perfectly well suited for producing high-grade moldings for standard applications.
Another ELMET highlight at this fair will be the company's current range of valve gate cold decks for molding liquid and solid silicone and other rubber. Precise electronic control for maximum repeatability is the hallmark of these devices. The filling level of each individual cavity can thus be optimized in the ongoing injection process, with direct gating – and the data records obtained can be filed as a project-specific profile and stored for follow-up orders. Cost-efficiency is further enhanced by the insert-type nozzle tip sealing system which supports separate replacement of the insert, if necessary, at low cost.
Elmet will be displaying its products at its own booth in Hall 12, stand F51-1 and, in part under near-real-life production conditions, at the booths of partner companies.
Thus, at the Engel stand (15B42 and 15C58), visitors will be able to view a fully automatic multi-cavity injection mold for processing solid silicone rubber. ELMET's new distribution partner, DME Normalien (Stand 01C25), presents examples of valve gate cold deck technology, while an Elmet single-cavity micro-mold is in use at REP (Stand 14B57). A four-cavity mold with electronically controlled needle valve gate system for simultaneous molding of four different parts will be on exhibit at the Maplan booth (Stand 16B47), and a TOP3000 Metering System is featured in an application at the Silcotech booth (Stand 05C42).
Elmet Elastomere Produktions- und Dienstleistungs GmbH of Oftering/Austria, established in 1996, is an internationally successful manufacturer of molds, valve gate cold decks, metering systems and peripheral devices for processing silicones and rubbers.
