On April 25th, 2017, the 9 Partner Institutes of the AZL open the doors of their machinery halls and research labs to providean extensive and on-site insight into the research and development capacities in the field of lightweight production and composites at the RWTH Aachen Campus. As a special highlight of this year, the new AZL building including its machinery hall with large-scale equipmentare visited for the first time.
Companies of the entire lightweight value chain as well as newcomers to the lightweight industry are invited tojoin the AZL Open Day and take part in nine guided tours to the lightweight institutes. Participants will have the possibility to be updated on the latest lightweight production technologies and equipmentin the field of textiles (ITA), plastics and composite materials (IKV), production technology (WZL, IPT, ILT, and ISF), quality assurance and production-integrated measurement technology (WZL), lightweight design (SLA), automotive production (IKA) as well as multi-material systems and process integration (AZL). Moreover, participants will have time to network with other player of the lightweight industry as well as research engineers of AZL's Partner Institutes.
With 16 new research clusters, one of the largest research environments in Europe is being created in Aachen on an area of 2.5 km2. Companies and research institutes work shoulder to shoulder not only on lightweight but on a broad range of cutting-edge technology. Earlier this year, the AZL opened its offices and machinery hall in one of thenew cluster buildings, the Production Engineering Cluster. Additionally to its large-scale equipment for composite pilot production, AZL will provide exclusive offices and co-working spaces for partner companies.
