New electrically conductive compounds and concentrates at the K 2016

New electrically conductive… Biesterfeld will showcase Cabot Corporation's newly launched CABELEC compounds and concentrates at K 2016. The increased requirements for explosion protection in industrial production plants along with more stringent safety demands in the supply chain, as for example in the automotive industry, call for intelligent product solutions. These include the polypropylene (PP) based compound CABELEC CA6410, which has been specifically developed for injection moulding applications. It provides good flow properties while exhibiting very high impact strength. Possible applications include electrically conductive packaging or transport crates and pallets. "With this new formulation we're launching a project that can meet the requirements not only technically, but also in terms of economics," states Sebastian Heitkamp, Marketing Manager at Cabot. As Cabot's sales partner for CABELEC in Germany, France and Poland, Biesterfeld will present the new products along with Cabot at K 2016.

Besides compounds, the Cabot specialty compounds product portfolio also comprises electrically conductive concentrates. The unique functionality of these products is that they can be mixed individually in line with the requirement for conductivity. The innovative production methods allow Cabot to manufacture highly concentrated products that enable a dilution up to 65 percent. The processor therefore has the opportunity to individually set the electrical and mechanical properties of the end product for the customer. This applies to both injection moulding and extrusion applications. For sheet extrusion, Cabot has the new HIPS-based concentrate CABELEC CC6296. This provides tremendous conductivity properties along with outstanding flexibility for thermoforming. Concentrates based on polyethylene (PE) and PP are also available.

"Biesterfeld is an important partner for distribution in Germany, France and Poland, which are not only important, but also innovative markets for conductive plastics," says Adrian Baker, Commercial Director, Cabot Specialty Compounds. Wilhelm Christian Postel, Business Manager Acrylates, Polyesters & Styrolcopolymers at Biesterfeld Plastic, adds: "As a manufacturer with backward-integrated carbon black production, Cabot is the ideal partner for Biesterfeld in the conductive products segment. The development of the new electrically conductive concentrates and compounds CABELEC has created the basis for a consistent expansion of the market shares in this segment." Postel stresses: "It's our strategy to work with international market leaders and achieve above-average growth. Our international sales network, the extensive product portfolio and long-standing trust-based collaboration with Cabot, form the ideal basis."
