Polyglass S.p.A., an Italian company of the Mapei Group, specialised in the production of waterproofing membranes and insulation systems, whose headquarters are located in Ponte di Piave, has chosen Amut as a strategic partner to increase its production capacity for TPO membranes. The Amut group, founded in 1958, has a broad portfolio of lines and machinery for plastics processing, including extrusion lines for thermoplastic PVC and TPO membranes, both single and multilayer with internal reinforcement, for civil applications. The high-performance technology of the Novara-based group will allow Polyglass to obtain membranes with high quality standards that enable the improvement of energy efficiency and low environmental impact.
In December 2020, Polyglass commissioned Amut a new extrusion plant with a capacity of 10,000,000 m2/year that will be dedicated to the production of the full range of Mapeplan T, a flexible polyolefin synthetic waterproofing membrane. The plant, which represents the current state of the art in the production of TPO, will be served by a fully automatic system for direct in-line dosing of raw materials and flame retardant additives that will be directly processed and extruded by the Amut line.
The solution, designed to meet the project specifications, is fully automated, equipped with an automatic packing system for the rolls produced and features technology for dimensional control of the product and visual surface inspection, with detection of any aesthetic effects. According to the contractual agreements, Amut will deliver the line in the second half of 2021, so that it can be put into production by November, on schedule.
"In spite of the pandemic crisis, Polyglass is proceeding with its plan to expand the production capacity in order to better compete in the single ply market," said Pierluigi Ciferni, CEO of Polyglass, "as foreseen in the development plan conceived with the parent company Mapei SpA, at the time of the acquisition. Ciferni then adds "The definition of the characteristics of the new line are the result of joint work between the technical staff of Polyglass/Mapei and that of Amut: "I would like to thank Mr. Milani for his active and positive collaboration and that of his staff ".
"Amut's long experience in the design and manufacture of lines for synthetic waterproofing membranes, tested in numerous installations around the world, combined with cutting-edge technology, guarantees the satisfaction of the most stringent project specifications and a targeted support to the customer," said Piergianni Milani, President of Amut, who added: "We are proud to work with a prestigious company such as Polyglass and we thank Mr. Ciferni for the trust placed in us, confident to consolidate our relationship for future projects”.
