The plastic compounds in this product line are made partly or entirely from biobased and/or biomass-balanced materials. The new M·Biobase PLA 035 WF30 nat was specially developed for the injection moulding process and combines outstanding technical properties with a sustainable and aesthetically pleasing solution. It is the first compound in the new M·Biobaserange based on PLA (polylactic acid) and consists of over 95 % biobased components, with 30 % of the material made up of wood fibres.

“This material is the ideal choice for the manufacture of technical components and consumer goods, including toys and many other applications. It offers very high stiffness and tensile strength, which makes it possible to manufacture durable and stable products. The material offers a good opportunity to replace fossil-based plastics and generate products with good properties while reducing the carbon footprint”, says Dominik Ixmeier, Research and Development Engineer at BIO-FED.

Particularly noteworthy is the appealing wood look that M·Biobase PLA 035 WF30 nat gives the end products. This natural aesthetic is ideal for applications where both appearance and functionality are paramount. Another advantage of this material, it is easy to process on conventional equipment, making it a versatile solution for different industrial requirements.

Thanks to the use of renewable raw materials, M·Biobase compounds have an improved product carbon footprint compared to conventional fossil-based plastics. In addition to the portfolio, BIO-FED supplies the matching masterbatches.
