Röhm publishes ESG Report 2024 based on future ESRS requirements

Röhm publishes ESG Report…

Titled "Creating Sustainable Value", Röhm has published the ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) report for the financial year 2024. In the report, Röhm sets out its policies, measures and goals in all key ESG areas. "In 2024, we have reached important milestones that illustrate our commitment to environmental and social responsibility," says COO Hans-Peter Hauck. "In economically and politically challenging times, we continue to drive transparency, trust, safety and reliability, towards all our stakeholders based on our company values."

Starting with the 2024 report, Röhm is aligning its sustainability reporting with the future requirements of the European Sustainability Reporting Standard (ESRS). This future-oriented approach is intended to further enhance the existing sustainability reporting while also facilitating the transition to full ESRS compliance. For its commitment and transparency in implementing its sustainability strategy, Röhm was once again awarded the EcoVadis Gold Label in 2024. The company also makes a significant contribution to the disclosure of environmentally relevant figures, strategies, targets and measures as part of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), where it achieved a status B for climate & and for water security. Since December 2022, Röhm has also been a member of the UN Global Compact. The largest production site in Worms has been successfully certified according to the standards and guidelines of Operation Clean Sweep (OCS).

The 2024 ESG milestones at a glance:

Decarbonization: The environmental commitment to sustainability is reflected in our Track 2030 program, which aims to reduce the carbon footprint per ton of products manufactured by 30 percent by 2030. The implementation of this goal is described in a time-bound action plan.

Circular economy: In 2024, Röhm became part of a Europe-wide alliance for sustainable PMMA recycling, which supports the circular economy as one of the most important goals of Röhm's sustainability efforts. In addition, the sites in Worms, Wesseling (Germany) and Shanghai (China) have achieved ISCC Plus certification, enabling Röhm to offer a wide range of sustainable products.

Safety: With Safety Days at all sites worldwide and the introduction of the Golden Principle, Röhm employees have been trained and encouraged to identify and prevent unsafe conditions and actions. Safety is a top priority at Röhm.

Gender pay gap: In order to identify and eliminate possible inequities in the remuneration of men and women, Röhm has carried out a comprehensive analysis of the gender pay gap. The results form the basis for more pay equity in the company. While the unadjusted gender pay gap is 16 percent in Germany, it is 5.6 percent at Röhm.

Transparent supply chain: Röhm has intensified its efforts to ensure a transparent and responsible supply chain. In the year under review, around 500 new suppliers underwent a prequalification process. Possible risks in the areas of corruption and bribery, the environment, human and labour rights, occupational safety and other aspects were examined. Compliance with these criteria is an essential prerequisite for cooperation with Röhm.

Governance and security: Röhm has established a whistleblowing system to encourage all employees to report misconduct and violations. The information system is available as an online platform in the language versions German, English, Chinese, Spanish and Turkish. In 2024, all employees at Röhm were trained on the system.

"Sustainability remains the cornerstone of long-term success - not only for us at Röhm, but also for our customers," says Hauck. "We will continue to demonstrate this commitment through innovative solutions, strong partnerships and clear goals."
