Oliwa project to repurpose olive waste into packaging and biogas

A 25-partner consortium led by the University of Torino has launched Oliwa to repurpose olive by-products into co-products for animal feeds, functional ingredients, packaging and biogas. Aimplas will assess extrusion processability and validate rigid packaging and lidding film prototypes based on olive waste.

Coveris received the Green Packaging Star Award 2025 in the Environmentally Friendly Production Process category for its SleeveFlexR Stretch solution, presented at the Fachpack trade fair in Nuremberg. The PE-based sleeves are recyclable through existing collection streams.
