The German machine manufacturer Boy achieved and unexpectedly positive success at the trade fair Chinaplas 2021. 150,000 people attended the event in Shenzen, most of whom were domestic trade visitors. The booth of the manufacturer of injection moulding machines with clamping forces up to 1,250 kN was very well frequented during the four days of the fair. Andy Wong member of Boy's South Chinese agency Trillion Machinery (Holdings) Company Limited commented: "The two injection moulding machines on our booth were real visitor magnets. Machine technology - Made in Germany - is still very important in China. In the discussions, we were able to emphasize the robust technology, the easy handling and the processing advantages of our machines in a practical way." Boy exhibited a Boy XS (100 kN clamping force) and and its efficient success model, the Boy 25 E (250 kN) at the German joint booth.
The Boy XS impresses with maximum performance on a footprint of only 0.77 m². Even with its smallest injection moulding machine, Boy relies on the proven screw plasticising system, that works according to the "first in - first out" principle. With screw diameters between 8 and 18 mm, plasticising volumes of 0.06 to 15.3 cm³ are possible in continuous industrial operation. Boy's patented micro-plasticising unit with a diameter of 8 mm guarantees the shortest possible dwell times in the machine - a major advantage for the gentle processing of temperature-sensitive materials.
Equipped with a servo drive, the Boy 25 E is outstanding with regard to conventional hydraulic drive systems in terms of efficiency, precision and smooth running. Despite a footprint of only 1.8 m², the proven machine type (more than 25,000 units have been built) with its cantilevered two platen clamping unit also offers sufficient space for large-volume moulds. With four of the seven possible screw diameters, significantly higher injection speeds are achievable. At Chinaplas, the integration of a compact removal unit was demonstrated. The pneumatically driven picker operated completely under the protective housing of the two-platen clamping unit. The plastic parts moulded on site were placed on a conveyor belt, that was also integrated under the protective housing, and then transported to the outside.
Both exhibits were equipped with the multi-patented Procan ALPHA ® control. This control is outstanding in precision, dynamics and easy handling thanks to its multi-touch capability. This enables operating strategies such as scrolling of screen pages or changing pages by wiping - as with modern means of communication. The 15" full-touch display with brilliant LCD-LED technology convinces with text-poor screen pages in Chinese (a total of 23 languages are available) and memorable symbols. The digital assistance function for the machine control in the national language (stored in the control system) was highly appreciated by the interested visitors at the Boy trade fair booth.
Despite the corona-related restriction to a national audience, Andy Wong was very satisfied with the number of visitors during the four days of the fair. "Trillion has had a good reputation in the industry for many years. The Chinese plastics market, which is growing again after the Corona crisis, offers numerous opportunities, particularly for Boy”.
