The UK Government Association issued a report criticising the supermarkets’ record on packaging, stating that ‘excessive’ use of food packaging is undermining householders’ efforts to recycle and is adding to council tax bills. However, without a pack to protect goods, more waste is generated due to damage and spoilage.
The material recycling and energy recovery of post-consumer plastics waste varies significantly by country. In some countries like Switzerland, Germany, Sweden and Denmark there is very little landfill – these countries are very close to completing their diversion-from-landfill strategy.
Orlen Eko, the Orlen Group Company, has aunched the most modern thermal waste treatment plant in Poland. The facility is the first plant in the country capable of thermal processing of external dried municipal sewage sludge.

PlasticsEurope, the association of European plastics manufacturers, welcomes today`s adoption of the revised EU Waste Framework Directive by the European Parliament. The directive marks an important step towards improved resource efficiency and the reduction of landfill in Europe, thus decreasing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting the climate.
MAS, the Austrian manufactured, presented at 12th International Fair of Plastics Processing Plastpol, which was held on 27 - 30 May 2008 its new drying and cleaning plant for reprocessing of plastics. Plastpol is one of the largest exhibitions dedicated to the plastics industry not only in Poland, but also in Eastern Europe.
