According to VDMA, the German Engineering Association, Algerian imports of plastics machinery increased by 18 per cent in 2011. The imports of paper and packaging machinery even rose by 43 per cent. Against this background Algeria’s 2nd International Plastics, Rubber and Composites Trade Fair, plast alger 2012, will be held concurrently with the 3rd printpack alger, the International Printing and Packaging Technology Exhibition. One month before registration deadline more than 70 exhibitors from 14 countries already confirmed their participation. Both exhibitions are organized by the trade fair specialist fairtrade Messe and its German-Algerian team. plast alger & printpack alger 2012 will be held in Algiers from 24 to 27 September at the Palais des Expositions d'Alger – Safex.
In 2011 the imports of paper and packaging machinery went up by 43 per cent, from 46.7 Million US Dollars to 67.1 Million US Dollars. In the same period the imports of plastics machinery increased by 18 per cent, from 60.3 Million US Dollars to 71.2 US Dollars. According to the figures of VDMA the annual amount of imports of plastics machinery exceeded 70 Million US Dollar for the very first time.
Algeria annually consumes about one million tons of plastics products. The Algerian plastics industry grows by four to five per cent. “These excellent business opportunities for the international mechanical engineering sector reveal in the numbers of exhibiting companies of plast alger 2012”, says Kahina Behloul, Manager with fairtrade Algeria. Nine enterprises of the Austrian plastic industry are among the exhibitors of the “AWO / Expo Austria” group pavilion. And for the first time, AVEP - the Valencia Association of Plastic Producers organizes an official pavilion consisting of 16 major Spanish companies active in plastics machinery and equipment.
Besides the national pavilions several international market leaders will be present in Algiers, namely: Clariant, Snetor and Sabic - Saudi Basic Industries Corporation. Further participating countries are: Algeria, China, Egypt, Germany, France, India, Italy, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tunisia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
